Marching Band Kick-Off Weekend
Sat, May 4, 2024

The Marching Band season is about to begin! We have our first event of the season – Marching Band Kick-Off Weekend & Parent Forms Fest – which will take place on Saturday May 20, 2023 from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm at Irondale High School. This event is for both students and parents. The schedule of the day for students and parents is HERE. There is also some important general registration information & forms linked HERE.
Marching band is a dynamic performance ensemble that combines music, movement, and visual effects all on a football field. The level of work, talent, and determination that goes into these productions is simply amazing. The Irondale Marching Knights is one of the premier marching units in the Midwest and has been named a finalist and champion at some of the most prestigious events in our area. Irondale is also the 2021, 2022 & 2023 reigning Class AAA Minnesota State Marching Band CHAMPION, and we look forward to building on our successes from last season and elevate the program to the next level.

Students who join the Marching Knights make new friends and unforgettable memories all while becoming more responsible, organized, and time efficient. While we want to create a great competitive show, we are primarily here to make your students great human beings that are ready for life beyond high school. It’s a wonderful opportunity to build community and be a part of something greater. By attending this meeting, you are not signing up for marching band, but simply learning more about it.

The Irondale Marching Knights are the only marching band in the Mounds View School District and are open to students of both Irondale and Mounds View High Schools, as well as 8th graders at Edgewood and Highview Middle Schools (pending discussion with Dr. Longabaugh and the parents). You do not need to be a current band student to find a role within the program; spots are open for color guard, drumline, and hornline (which includes woodwinds).
